As some of you may have seen or heard, Microsoft announced the release of Windows 11 which has generated some questions from our OEM customers.
The key take-a-way is that Windows 11 and Windows IoT Enterprise are designed for different purposes. You should think of these 2 version of Windows as completely different products with different release date, support scope, features, and life cycle.
Regarding the new release of Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC for Q4 2021, Microsoft is still considering the exact release date, final features, and the sku/model name for it. Advantech’s dedicated SW team will keep everyone posted when we have more information to share. But one thing we can be certain of is that this new Win 10 IoT Ent release will provide our customers with a new Windows 10 IoT LTSC support until 2031.
Below is a table highlighting some of the known differences between Windows 11 and Windows 10 IoT for your embedded products. Microsoft and Advantech recommend to stay with Windows IoT since it’s the OS designed for embedded products, and IoT solutions.
